would like to exhibit them). Please email me at: alp99AThotmail.com

and go through. Filika, Andreas Papadopoulos
Hi! My name is Lisa Watson, from Mobile, AL, USA. I am writing a research paper on
Greek Foreign Policy and the Turkish Occupation of Cyprus. I visited your web page on the
history of Cyprus and was wondering if you could tell me when you all created this web
page. I will be using it as a hyperlink and reference in my paper. Any and all help would
be greatly appreciated in this matter! Thank you!

You're website is the best, my only suggestion is that you should put better pictures
on the first page like life ones with people with the animals!! I loved you're website!!
I was in Cyprus last summer and can totally relate to all of the information that you

Congratulations!!......Your site definitely qualifies for the "Critical Mass

Thanks for helping make the Web a more interesting, fun and attractive place to visit.
I really enjoyed my visit to your site and will return again when time permits :
Excellent site, well constructed and easy to get around.

Hey I'm going to land up in Cyprus soon. And I was very curious to know about what
Cyprus is all about. After going through your wonderful site - my sights are all set on
Congrats on the amazing work!!!!!
Very good outlay, very informative, we found it incredible that we were able to sit at
home and read the menu for a restaurant in Cyprus!! Could you advise us if there is
anywhere that serves Vegetarian dishes, we will be staying in Paphos around October/
November. Yours gratefully Darren_EddyATyahoo.com
PS I fully understand if you are not able to reply.
Mistress@windowoncyprus.com 's comments.
Thanks for your nice comments. I
don't know of any "vegetarian restaurants" in Cyprus, let alone Paphos, (come on
someone please correct me) and often thought of opening one at our old haunt
Clunies. However most places will do suitable foods (unless you are a vegan) in which case
book self catering.
Good dishes to try will be :Grilled or fried Halloumi and chips (a type of
cheese) Fassolia (beans with celery, tomato and potato, yum yum), faggi (lentil based dish) and Greek salad with tahini and (wait for it) chips. We know some
others, but not their names (I hope I've spelt the above correctly) but if you explain I'm
sure people will try to accommodate you.
I hope you like fruit as the choices at the moment are great.. watermelon, melon, wonderful
cherries, pears, grapes, apples, peaches etc..oops you're coming in October (lovely time of
year). Have a nice holiday and do send us a report on "Eating in Cyprus as a
vegetarian" when you get home.

What a wonderful site. Looking forward to a hedonistic trip in October - ok, it's a

I like your web site very much. It is beautiful and very complete. Last month we spend

Hello from Aberdeen, Scotland This family has just returned from a fabulous fortnight
in Paphos (direct flight from Aberdeen to Paphos). We stayed at the Sofianna
just of the main square in Kato Paphos. This was probably the best 14 nights holiday we
have ever had. Yes it was hot! Yes it was humid! But it was good in ALL respects. Good
quality food. Excellent quality accommodation. WE NEVER got ripped-off on the price of
anything we bought. EVERYONE was friendly and helpful. I cannot recommend the Paphos area
too highly. Same for the Sofianna. Visit Troodos and the mountains for cool relief from
the heat of the coast. That is simply BLISS! I hope you get the message - we loved Cyprus.
We are not Cypriot, and have no connection with the isle, except a wonderful experience.

This is probably the best produced, and most informative site that I have seen on the
web. The contents are so exceedingly rich. You have covered just about every subject that
one could imagine necessary. Especially enjoyed the historical writings about the early

I wanted to say thank you for providing such a detailed site. I recently made a new
friend that lives in Cyprus, by way of computer technology, and now I have a better concept
of where and how my new friend lives. Thank you for all of the wonderful maps and
beautiful pictures, now I can visualize on the areas that we discuss and be somewhat
informed about the cultures. Perhaps some day I can visit Cyprus and my new friend. I can
see now that it would be a pleasure and I will cherish the memories forever.
Beautiful, good-looking website with a lot of relevant information. If possible, include

Hi. I'm Paul Stockard, my wife is Maya Spencer in Bristol England.
we want to visit Cyprus in mid-late
October for the first time and... 1. swim with
dolphins. 2. learn to go snorkelling in beautiful place.
I'm a strong swimmer. Maya will probably benefit from instruction and encouragement. Can
you recommend anything?
Also, I'm vegetarian, Maya eats some fish but is extremely health-food conscious. can you
recommend places to eat?
Much thanks. Paul. e-mail to: maya.spencerATcableinet.co.uk

I loved this site, especially the bicycling and bungee links. I've been to Cyprus for
vacation a couple times, and I can't wait to go back and bungee again. I plan to drag my
boyfriend along and try biking my way around the island. Beautiful scenery! ----Jennifer

I think we need to know more about your traditions, way to be, clothes or ways to wear,
etc. No so long for tourists.
comments; We are planning on making this site HUGE! but I'm afraid it's one thing at a
time. We are currently researching Cypriot fairy stories and Jokes. The way to be in Cyprus
is friendly, fun and polite. Apart from that just be yourself and you'll do fine. As for
what to wear, well are you male or female ? It's very difficult to find Vracha's these
days (Traditional male skirt like trousery things) and if you want to be an authentic Yaya
(Granny) try a black skirt, black stockings and black cardigan.
u need to let us know more about the nightlife!!
comments; Oh dear ...all things to all men is soooo difficult. We will do it, but we need a
volunteer for the nightlife review, one mans taste is another's poison and all that. Come
on someone, We're a bunch of oldies but goldies, into Jazz and Swing and not much use at a
rave....someone must want the job ! Update .ok went raving, had a ball, see
here for Ayia Napa
I think it is very appalling from you that you did not have the decency to mention that
there is an American Academy in Larnaca as well.
Other than that your page does provide good
information concerning our island, and also
represents Cyprus quite well throughout the www.
Keep up the good work.
comments; Dear George, we have asked the American Academy in Larnaca to participate, but
have had no reply....as yet.....maybe you should complain to them too....we want them in
here . Quick off the mark they are not. All of my children studied there and we
are now compiling a review. (Maybe that's why they don't want in!)
Hia my name is Jenni and I visited Larnaka, Cyprus in August 1998. I stayed in the

I think this is one of the most informative 'travel' sites I have visited - well done!
a question - could you advise of the dates of the Limassol carnival in 1999?
comments; It happens quite early in the year, unlike the wine festival
which is normally in August September. See www.cyprus-art.com for all happenings in Cyprus.
Greetings! So far I like what I see. I did have some trouble adding my classified ad. I
submitted it twice, reloaded the page twice and saw nothing of my ad. Something ain't
working right. I hope you can fix that. Secondly, why not shorten the Greenpeace button so
folks can actually read it. How about "Greenpeace" and leave out "in
Cyprus", which is sort of obvious. Another button could use the same treatment.
Otherwise, looks nice. Sure hope you can fix the ad submission.

REMEMBER THAT IT'S UP TO US TO INFORM AND ENLIGHTEN THE POTENTIAL TOURISTS ABOUT THE TRUE
SIDE OF THE PROBLEM . THIS DOES NOT COME OUT AS ANY FORM OF CRITICISM BUT AS A FRIENDLY
ADVICE FOR SOMETHING I WISH TO SEE GROWING AND SERVING THE NATION'S REPUTATION .THEREFORE
REMEMBER THAT THERE IS NO TURKISH "SIDE" AS THIS IMPLIES THAT WE HAVE

comments: Thanks for the comments. This is not a political statement anymore than
"When I was a young girl in Ireland at the local dance in the pub hall on a Saturday
night the girls were on one side of the room, and the boys on the other." This was
not a rule, it was just the way it was. The true side of that problem was that in order
for it to be a dance, they had to come together on the dance floor.
Congratulations on a Cyprus site which oozes with a modern, bright and open approach! I
have lived in Cyprus for three years now, because I fell in love...not with Cyprus, but
with my, now, Cypriot wife! Living here is very different to coming as a tourist and my
feelings about Cyprus as a country are mixed. I find many things which are, naturally,
stressed when promoting the island as a destination to visit. But what I loved about your
site was that you do not only present the 'glossy brochure' picture ...you genuinely
invite, and include, all shades of view and, as in your history pages, avoid coming across
as propagandist. Having come from an open, liberal background in the UK, I find it
wonderfully refreshing to find a site that is not tinged with orthodoxy and conservatism.
Brilliant ...and more strength to your elbow (or whatever you use to type with)!!
Suggestion...how about a 'plus' and 'minus' page for comments? ...for example, the 'plus'
of how eating out is always a pleasure ...the 'minus' of how you risk your life on the way
home because of appallingly dangerous driving habits. I think a country's image is always
strengthened by openness and honesty ....your site is a real step in that direction
comments: Thanks for the fillip keith, 'Your views',was

Your site has been very helpful and is quite interesting. John
- What a tremendous site. I don't think I've ever come across an
independent site with so
much depth, flavour and interest - how did you do it?
I've trawled (i.e. gathered info rather than merely surfed) you site for a couple of
hours today and still keep finding bits of real interest. Bungees and hang-gliders to
Greenpeace, what a variety.
Keep up the great work and if I can help in anyway please get in touch. It's nice to see
a useful site promoting Cyprus in a civilised manner rather than either selling the
postcard/holiday image or dwelling in 1974. Both are important of course but the story the
tell is so stale now.
- I would like to take this opportunity to wish everybody who reads this page a VERY HAPPY
AND PEACEFUL NEW YEAR. So glad to hear that the S300 missiles are now not going to Cyprus
let us all hope this brings a chance of a peaceful settlement to ALL Cypriot people.
- Think your web site is great. My family and I fell under the spell of the Island when I
served there for 3 years in the RAF. Our youngest daughter was born there. We try to get
back every year for a holiday. Oh to win the UK Lottery and buy a property there. Keep up
the good work on the web site. I will certainly be browsing through it on a regular basis.
Hope to be back on the Island in '99. Happy New Year to you all!

Very useful addition to information gathering for our study tour with our
under-graduate tourism students in January. From our perspective we visit Cyprus as a
tourism destination to see overseas travel management in action. Our students are
interested in the practical issues managers face but equally political, environmental and
conservation of the product. The latest political developments (un-biasly presented) would
be a useful addition but on the whole easy to interpret and well presented.

A very informative web site If I had one thing that I do not like is the fact that so
called Safari Land rover trips are not really a true opportunity to see the Island,
an opportunity to ruin it.
comments: This is generally true, except we have Exalt (really Eco friendly with a lot of

someone else, maybe one of the bigger brasher companies. On the whole though,
correct - pity we can't just have walking and slow donkies - what a difference
that would make , bring down the pace again (:o)) Don't think there will be much

the good food guide. You will find it under recipes. If you
have anything to add to it, we will be happy to.
- I am looking to move to Cyprus from the UK and I must say how much of a confidence boost
your site gives me (and my girlfriend!) regarding such a decision. Being able to research
every aspect of life on your beautiful Island is a real help.

- I think your website is absolutely fantastic!!! I've been glued to it for hours.... it's
far more comprehensive and informative than any other I've come across. One thing that I
would like to know about - even though it's not a particularly nice topic is: Holiday
nasties in Cyprus - ie. mosquitos, bugs, etc....
Keep up the good work, we're looking forward to our visit in May !!
Marie & Dave (Dublin, Ireland)
comments: Thanks for the nice comments. Good Idea ; Here it is nasties from Cyprus.
- Loved the site...
I had never heard about Cyprus, until someone contacted me by ICQ.. saying he was from
Northern Cyprus... so i started to search some sites about the island....and you can be
sure that yours is on my bookmarks : )
Haven't seen it all yet...but it won't take long. it's very interesting!
By the way, I'm from Florianspolis, Santa Catarina in Brazil which also is a little
island.. but in the Atlantic Ocean : ) Hope you come visit us some day, for more
information I recommend this site: www.guiafloripa.com.br, it's not mine, nor form any
friend...I just thinks it's worth a visit, like yours: )
Thanks for sharing all this wonderful things about Cyprus Aline
comments: Hi Aline, Loads of pics, sometimes too heavy for the pages. I do hope it
takes you a while, as we have 400 odd pages, a little delving should start to make this
obvious. Hope to see you here one day.
- It is one of the best layed out web site I have seen, but your spelling is cack, it is
Oroklini not Oriklini actually pranounced Voroklini
However, Excellent website
comments.. Thanks for the correction, you are of course right (I am always in trouble for
this kind of remark, but I feel it coming on......) your spelling is also cack as I
believe layed should be laid and pranounced should be pronounced.....however cheers, keep
- We will be in Cyprus over Christmas and New Year. How warm is it generally at this time
of year? Can you tell us what to pack in the way of clothes?

; As it will be the Millennium, who knows, but I should pack a couple of jumpers and a
swimsuit just in case. Have a great time.
- Hello Your web page is very good, interesting and easy to get around. I mean it is one
of the best web sites. We are Cyprus fans and can't wait to return to Cyprus. There for I
surf always on the different Cyprus web sites (yours is the best!). Our next visit is in
May. Four weeks in our nice apartment (for us our "second home") in Paphos !
Could you tell me a good internet provider in Paphos (may be I will buy a PC later)

- I leave in Cyprus for more than 20 years . I can't understand the facts you want to
prove in your page. Any page stating that Cypriots are not Greek but Greek speaking is
really dangerous . Please mail me at phocaidesAThotmail.com
comments ; I shall explain it to you. These pages are non -political-non -racist
-non - propaganda as far as we can make it so. If it is dangerous to call a cup of coffee a
cup of coffee then we are obviously a bunch of subversives and anarchists.
The CYPRIOT people are CYPRIOT.......some speak Greek, some speak Turkish and some
There are Cypriots who consider themselves Greek as there are those who consider
themselves Turkish and then again those who say they are English. Now for the political
bit......'we are all citizens of this small and troubled planet.'..and my PERSONAL OPINION
is that the fervour of national identity is the dangerous thing for us all. Look at the
'identity situations' happening around the world at the moment.
The 'facts' that we try to prove in our page, is that Cyprus is a beautiful island,
with a warm and generous people, that has a lot to offer. What do you want us to prove ??
VERY INFORMATIVE AND HELPFUL. THIS HAS MADE ME REALLY EXCITED ABOUT MY FORTH COMING

Love the site! I'm a Canadian who formerly served in Cyprus (Nicosia) in 1988 and it
certainly brought back a lot of pleasant memories. Still looking for a real good Kebab
This is best web site I've visited, and easy to find my way around - I'm just concerned
that with my very sporadic ability as far as the Internet is concerned, that I wont be
able ever to find it again....
I want to see more pictures of Cyprus....because i want to visit this summer...
- I enjoyed this web site more than others I have been looking at - more info and easier
to find what you're looking for.
Just what you need when looking into holidays because holiday brochures show the hotels
or apartments and nothing else. Ok it's good to know the hotel looks nice but it would
also be good to see the scenery and local towns etc in them too.

A pretty comprehensive guide I must say. Do you know of any links I can find to cycling
& cyclists in Cyprus? Will ( WillWatsonATYahoo.Com ) PS A suggestion: It might be useful to order the comments you have received so
the newest ones come at the top of the page.
comments: Indeed I do Will, Our Cycling page is here
and you pics will be an addition when you return from peddling around the island I hope?
Yes we should have done it as you suggest, but now as it works, I am loathe to touch it,
in case it goes potty.
I think that this web site is really informative and it has really helped us in our
Geography project, I also really like Cyprus so it has shed some light on the aspects I
wasn't quite sure on. Thank you very much Miss T Gamwell

I love this site, the info within the pages are the most complete, and interesting of
all sites I have seen about Cyprus. Just got a job offer in Cyprus, and I am doing a lot

that is amazing. Can I contact you when I need extra information?
This site is just great!!! Thank you

Hi yall! I am a new diver. During my adventure to gather information from experienced
divers about the dive sites of Cyprus I was exhausted. Therefore, I asked if there is any
book available to start learning from. However, suddenly I found this web page while I

was looking for. Guys, Congratulations for this amazing project. Keep up the good work.

I visited many sites about Cyprus these days - I'll spend my vacation in Paphos so I
want to be prepared. Must tell you that this one is the best I've seen this far. None of
the sites I visited before has had as many information of all kinds as this one. Its
really good and educational. Thanks
- Very good web site ,the best I've seen. Any details on flights from England ie times etc
would be helpful unless you already have details and I haven't found them !!.

Hi guys. Best site I've ever seen on Kypros. We're flying in 20 June for 2 weeks in
Kato Paphos. I can't get the missus away from this site. I'm having to administer sleeping

trot). So ... thanks once more for helping my phone bills go through the roof! All the

- Thanks for a good Cyprus site. It's difficult to find "Tourist info" on Cyprus
on the net except from your site. So all I know about Cyprus is what I read here. I've
found a lot of interesting facts and figures here, but I miss some more info about Ayia
Napa, where I am going 3 weeks from now. I'm going to spend a week there and I would like
to read and see some more of the "Night-life", especially pictures. The same
thing goes for the beaches. I'm going to stay near Nissi Beach, and I don't find too much
pics and info about it. But I guess I will see enough of it in three week. Anyway, this is
the best site I found on Cyprus. Keep up the good work, and expand the content.
- The Website is great, it is very informative. The only problem I have with it is you
really don't have a section for the cost of airfare to and from Cyprus.

- What a great site ! As a regular visitor to Cyprus for over 15 years I reckon you have
encapsulated the charms of Cyprus perfectly. As a new but enthusiastic net surfer, I rate
this as one of the best sites I have found. I hope the C.T.O. appreciate your good work.
- Geia sou! I returned from the best vacation ever - in Paphos. I went all over Cyprus,
and visited all bigger cities. I am very impressed with Nicosia, and very
people willing to explain tourists all about the recent history of Cyprus and tragedy that
happened. Shortly I had the best vacation, and I learned a lot as well. I'll come again
for sure. I.
- I think your site is great. I checked it today for some ideas when I go to Cyprus on
Saturday the 10 of July for my vacation. I know a lot more about Cyprus and what I can do
during my vacation. Especially, the site about Ayia Napa was very helpful. Go on with
your good work.
Greetings, Monique Lagemaat (Netherlands)

Hello. I am Mike and I live in Holland. I have looked through your site before I went
over to Cyprus and it helped me a lot . Now that I'm back it helps me even more because I

Hi! Your site is great! I just wish I could find more pictures. I spent my summer
holiday in Protaras (Green Bay Hotel Apts, 15 to 28 june), and I fell in love with the
place. I'll be back as soon as possible, but until then I just have to sit here by my
computer, with my daydreams and with CYPRUS IN MY HEART!
Lots of hugs from Malin in Sweden.
It's a splendid website which encourages us to expect a marvellous holiday in Paphos in
October - BUT the individual pages take for ever to download and if I hadn't got free
weekend connection time I could never afford to wait so long. If you ever do a re-design,
do consider much smaller pages/ much more partioning.
Keep up the good work. Don Hastead
comments: Thank you. Yes you are right. Some of the pages are far too big, and when we
have time we shall take it in hand. When we started, we didn't know much about web
design....now hopefully we do it better and will improve more as time goes by.

- I came across this site almost by accident. It is very well done. You do need more
pictures of the south coast. My wife and I spent almost a month in Cyprus during 1985 on
business and have only fond memories of the country and especially the people. We have
discussed returning after I retired and this site may help us in making that decision. We
stayed at the Churchill on October Ave. I believe your site needs more hotel selections. I
believe it will help a lot. Showing all your fine restaurants with menu will also help
because the food is among the best in the world. Thank you for bringing back those
memories and keep up the good work on this site. Best regards from Pat and Chuck - Yardley

- I love this site and it has sold me as a place to visit.... I first got the idea through
browsing the UEFA Champions League site and was dismayed that Anorthosis Famagusta FC did
not make history for their country. However, since I am an avid football fan I would
suggest perhaps a sports site talking about venues, what sports are popular in Cyprus and
other things (i.e. someone asked about golf courses).
I think also that more info on weather patterns and things like the generally colder
months and how cold they get and summers and how hot they are may be useful for people
