The Georgallides Courtyard or Avli at
Lythodontas
A beautifully restored mountain village house, the perfect place for
a quiet and restful stay consisting of three very old brick buildings with
wooden beamed roofs and traditional Cypriot tiles, unified in their restoration.
AVLI has five bedrooms, more like separate suites actually, each with its own private bathroom and WC
for guests. Some of the characteristic elements you will enjoy are the
reception area with its carved arch and tiled floor, the large kitchen
with fireplace, covered verandas with a magnificent view of the village
and the hilly environment surrounding it, as well as the sunroom in
the raised section of the building.

Because of its noteworthy traditional character, the entire complex
has been declared an antique building by the authorities and all
materials and techniques used for its restoration are traditional and
indigenous to the area.

The scenery around Lythrodontas is rich in wild local vegetation,
with plenty of
pine trees and heady thyme. It is also rich in cultivation of citrus and
other types of fruits, vines, vegetables, pulses, walnuts and grain.
The village is also involved in raising livestock, while the women do
a lot of tailoring and embroidery work.

AVLI lies in the traditional neighbourhood of the village
of Lythrodontas, a village of the Nicosia district some 30Km south of
the capital and built at 420m above the sea level, it is well known for
its olive groves mainly cultivated for olive oil production.You will
also find some lovely restaurants in the area, a meze here is sooo
different from the tourist offerings in the beach resorts. The
sheiftalia are small and succulent, scrambled eggs wiith zuchini,
mushrooms and onions, oh stop me now I'm going for a drive!
